F – 1nternet

“Internet speed in Groningen University is so crazy”, I said to my friend in Indonesia. I talked to him via Skype
“Why?” he asked me
“Open this link!” I sent a link to view a picture from SpeedTest
“Wow! Super fantastic! 122.94 Mbps!! Is it true? How do you feel?” she was shocked
“Yeah, it’s amazing. I am in the F-1 circuit” I shouted

In the first week of September, I had introduction week in my faculty, Faculty of Behavior and Social Sciences. I and my friends from International Master of Science in Education got several important explanations such as faculty buildings and facilities, faculty library, University Library ProgressWWW and Nestor.
When I and my friends joined in Faculty ICT facilities at Heymans Building, I was wondering about the internet connection in Groningen University. Before I arrived in Groningen, I studied in Maastricht University from April – August. I feel that internet speed in Maastricht is faster than Indonesia because it is up to 20 Mbps. If it is compared with Indonesia, it’s too far. In Indonesia, the average of internet speed is up to 1 Mbps. Thus, I was going to compare the internet connection between Groningen and Maastricht.
After I got my username and password, I logged in to the network. It was successful. Then, I opened Internet Explorer browser, typed www.speedtest.net and pressed ENTER. After that, I started to test the internet connection by pressing BEGIN TEST.
I can’t imagine the result. The internet connection speed in Groningen University is absolutely faster than internet connection in Indonesia, even in Maastricht. I am in the right place. I am in the right university. There is nothing above Groningen. Yes it is, because Groningen is located in the north of the Netherlands.

Nice and useful information, thank a lot Mas.
