Using Wi-Fi at LBI UI Salemba

Five students sat at Room 406 at LBI UI Salemba and looked busy with their netbooks. There was no sound until one of the students said that her modem was not working. One of her friends suggested that she can use Wi-Fi facility at LBI UI, but she must go downstairs to register the netbook to the LBI staff. The suggestion was not wrong, however, she actually didn’t need to go downstairs because the Wi-Fi at LBI UI can be simply accessed by asking her friends. If you want to use Wi-Fi at LBI UI Salemba, it is necessary to set the network connection and the web browser setting in your netbook.

First of all, set your network connection. You must turn on your Wireless LAN in your netbook. After that, the computer will search the wireless network coverage. You will find several networks that probably are covered by your computer (See Picture 1). However, you must select “linksys” as your network and connect to it. You will be required to fill the wireless network key. As you see in Picture 2, you must write “12F2B57685” in the network security box. After it’s completed, the setting of network connection is finished.

Next, you must configure your web browser setting (Mozilla Firefox is used for the example). After you open Mozilla Firefox, first you must go to the Option, which is located in the Tools tab. Secondly, you should find Advanced and go to the Network tab (See Picture 3). Then you must find the Setting to configure how Mozilla Firefox connects to the internet. As you see in the Picture 4, you must choose Manual Proxy configuration. After that, fill proxy server number 152.118.24.10 to the HTTP Proxy, SSL Proxy, FTP Proxy, Gopher Proxy as well as SOCKS Host and write 8080 in the port boxes. If it’s done, click OK and try to open a website. You should succeed to open the website as long as you’ve followed all steps carefully.

In conclusion, those two simple steps to manage the network connection and web browser setting must be followed if you want to use Wi-Fi at LBI UI Salemba. If you have finished using the Wi-Fi, don’t forget to change the proxy setting to No Proxy (See Picture 4). It is important if you want to access the internet by using different Wi-Fi or by modem.
