The Effects of E-Learning System

Prof. John, a lecturer of Satya Wacana Christian University, is uploading some journals to his homepage. He provides all lecture materials and assignments to his students through e-Learning system. In addition, he also discusses them with his students via Skype and Yahoo Messenger. Additionally, the students can get many resources from the internet to enrich their knowledge. Actually, e-Learning system has been applied in several universities/schools due to its positive effects in learning activities.

The first effect is, e-Learning makes learning activities more flexible. The lecturer and students don’t need a face-to-face meeting in a class room. They don’t need a class room, a black board, chairs, tables, and other facilities in the classroom. Additionally, the learning system can be accessed easily. They just need to sit in front of computer with internet access because all materials and assignments are provided in e-Learning system.

Second, e-Learning system supplies a lot of information. The system provides abundant information from the internet. The lecturer and students can access a lot of information from journals, newspapers and other resources. Besides, they can download many videos from various resources to advance the learning activities. They can also have a discussion with other people around the world to share the information.

Third, e-Learning system encourages the lecturer and students to be creative. By using e-Learning system and other information from the internet, the lecturer and students will get many resources to be analysed. Therefore, they will have many ideas to solve several cases with different perspectives. As a result, the system pushes the lecturer and students to be creative.

In conclusion, e-Learning system makes learning activities more flexible, supplies a lot of information, and encourages the lecturer and students to be creative. Therefore, the system should be implemented in all universities/schools to improve the quality of education.
