What is good research?
Prof. Ian Falk gave a lecture about “What Is Good Research” in Satya Wacana Christian University (SWCU) Salatiga last Friday. Prof. Ian Falk is the project leader for Australia Indonesia Biosecurity Community Management (AusIndoBIOCOM), as well as a Chair for Rural and Remote Studies from Charles Darwin University. This seminar was held at Probowinoto room, in the 5th floor of Post Graduate building. Postgraduate Program of Satya Wacana Christian University was the organizer for the seminar. Prof. Kutut Suwondo who also the Director of Postgraduate program, took his role as the moderator.
The participants come from lecturers and students of Satya Wacana Christian University. Prof. Falk delivered the important aspect to do a research. He asked to all participant to answer the simple question”what is good research” and answer it quickly. They answered the question in the paper sheet. I found lot of answer from about 55 participants. Prof. Falk asked me to compile the answer and make the categories from it. I did the task with Satria and Sukma. Around 15 minutes, we have finished the task and made 6 groups to determine the meaning of good research. There’re: Process, Methodology, Benefit, Ethic, Background and Resources.
